Using big brushes and water-mixable oil paints, full-time artist Joe Gallant will demonstrate and guide you through the steps of creating your own large seascape that just might become a focal point in your home or office! New this year! Learn Joe's Big Brush technique to create both large and medium size paintings. You will complete your own oil painting during this fun one-day socially-distanced workshop. Joe will provide a reference photo of a coastal scene that will be painted. Suitable for adult beginners, intermediate painters, and past participants in Joe's workshops. If you have ever felt unsure of yourself when you start a painting, here's your chance to learn an exciting technique that just might change the way you paint forever! Students must wear a mask and provide their own supplies -- see list below. Please wear clothing to paint in and bring a newspaper, old sheet, or tarp to protect your car upholstery from wet paint on the ride home. MATERIALS LIST . WATER MIXABLE oil paints (Winsor & Newton "Artisan" brand, 37 ml or larger), one tube each of red, blue, yellow, green, and white. Select any shade of each, but not olive green. Acrylic paints may be substituted but the results will look different. . One canvas with a width of at least 24" (e.g. 24x18, 24x36, 30x15, etc.) You can purchase at local art supply stores and Michael's, which often offers weekly discount coupons or online. . 4", 3" and 1" flat wall-painting brushes. Buy the cheapest "Pure Bristle" brushes available on the bottom shelves in hardware stores or on Amazon. . 1" or 2" wide flat inexpensive art brush . Plastic or metal palette knife . Cookie sheet, pie pan, or large art tray for mixing paint .
