Perhaps the enduring popularity of landscape and wildlife art, as demonstrated over the centuries, stems from the intuitive knowledge that nature and the outdoors, lifts a person's spirits. Just an image of the right scene is known to soothe the soul. In keeping with that premise, The Bowersock Gallery has front-loaded its 2021 season with Respite And Relief, images which evoke calm, and stories showcasing beauty which will set a sated mind wandering. The show's online, multiple platform opening runs 5:15 to 5:30 pm, just before the in-gallery, live person, opening event, which runs 7 to 9pm. The live stream can be found on YouTube (Featured at Bowersock Gallery), and the show will remain posted on the website: bowersockgallery.com "This exhibit will please every fiber of being, not to mention lower your blood pressure, whether you view it live, live-streamed, or online," Founding Curator Steve Bowersock says. "The collection includes a broad take on the landscape genre - fantastical, dreamscape and representational, while featuring charming wildlife work." Respite And Relief, features some of the gallery's top landscape and wildlife artists, Patricia Kaufman, Darlou Gams, Terry Rafferty, Gretchen Woodman, and Lauren Holmgren. Each has a strong, clear, unique, and distinct voice. Long time gallery artist, Kaufman is known for her ethereal scenes and mastery of bright, rich colors. Gams' work evokes a mood via various plays on light, "each piece invites emotion." Rafferty and Woodman, each, add their own brand of whimsical dreamy, and Holmgren is quite prolific at spanning genres. There is something, here, for everyone. Bowersock muses, "There are a few times better than right now for the needed tranquility and calming tales a rich landscape can spin and summon. We all long for a place where we can escape, whether it's out in the 'wild,' a space at the office, or a respite room at home we can visit after a rough day, and when the kids are finally settled
